Brief biography:

Séverine Louvel is a visiting associate researcher in sociology at EPIDAPO from September 1, 2015.

She is associate professor in the sociology of science at Sciences Po Grenoble (PACTE). She is also affiliated with the PACTE research lab (CNRS and University of Grenoble) where she is coordinating a group on “Science & Politics in Emerging Fields” (with Céline Granjou).

She mainly works on scientific professions, academic careers, organization of public research, higher education and research policies. Her work is based on in-depth field studies in life-sciences and biomedical sciences and on international comparisons (France-United States). Using insights from science policy studies, science and technology studies and the sociology of expectations, her most recent work focuses on nanomedicine. She explores the organizational and professional dimensions of the development of interdisciplinarity nanomedicine research in French and US universities, as well as the impact of the field’s promises on the definition of scientific agendas.
